Journey of Growth in HealthcareAcıbadem Hospital was first founded as a district hospital in 1991 and now, it continues the growth and development journey at global scale through an agreement concluded with IHH Healthcare Berhad, one of the largest groups in Far East. In addition to hospital and healthcare investments in 8 major countries of Asia-Pacific region, IHH Healthcare Berhad has education and real estate investments in many countries around the globe and it is the second biggest healthcare chain of the world thanks to its strong structure arising out of the partnerships with Khazanah -investment fund of Malaysian government, Mitsui&Co. Ltd. company from Japan and Aydınlar Family. Acıbadem is an important part of this chain since 2012.
Acıbadem Health Group acquired Tokuda Group and City Clinic Group which are among the pioneering members of healthcare sector of Bulgaria in 2016. Acıbadem incorporated 4 hospitals and 5 medical centers through an investment of 125 million Euros to both groups and it is, now, the major private healthcare service provider of Bulgaria. Accordingly, Acıbadem started to serve patients in 5 countries with 24 hospitals and 15 medical centers in total.

MEHMET ALİ AYDINLAR Chairman of BoardAcıbadem Hospital was the first step of Mr. Aydınlar, who began his career as Certified Public Accountant in 1981, into the health sector in 1991. He was awarded “Management Excellence Award” at “Global Young Entrepreneur Businessman Competition” in 1998. He was awarded the title ‘Honorary Doctorate’ by Social Sciences Institute, Dumlupınar University. He was recognized as the “Male Entrepreneur of the Year” in the “Business Person of The Year” Survey conducted by Ekonomist magazine and elected as the "Business Manager of the Year" by Dünya Newspaper and School of Business, Istanbul University in 2006. Referans Newspaper elected Acıbadem Healthcare Group as the “Fastest Fish in Turkey” in the same year. Mr. Aydınlar was given “The Person Who Makes Most Voluntary Personal Contributions to Healthcare” award by Healthcare Volunteers in 2007, 2009 and 2010. He was deemed worthy of “Health Management Honorary Award" by Hastane (Hospital) Journal in 2008. Mr. Aydınlar, who was also honored with TGNA Outstanding Service Award in 2010, also has “Sportsperson of the Year” awarded in 2011 due to his contributions to sports.
HATİCE SEHER AYDINLAR Vice Chairman of the BoardShe was graduated from Faculty of Chemistry, Galatasaray University. She stepped into health sector with Acıbadem Hospital in 1993. Ms. Aydınlar is still Vice Chairman of the Board in Acıbadem Health Group.
TAKESHI AKUTSU Board MemberAppointed to the Board of IHH Healthcare Berhad (IHH) in April 2022, Mr Takeshi Akutsu is the Managing Officer & Chief Operating Officer of Wellness Business Unit at Mitsui & Co., Ltd (Mitsui) in its Tokyo Headquarters.
Mr Akutsu has over 30 years of working experience in Mitsui mainly engaged in consumer related business such as fashion industry and service business sector. Between April 2020 to March 2022, he served as the Managing Officer, General Manager of Corporate Planning and Strategy Division of Mitsui responsible for the conglomerate’s strategic and business planning. Prior to that, he served as General Manager in the Planning & Administrative Division for Innovation & Corporate Development unit and Consumer & Healthcare unit. In the Planning & Administrative Division, he managed various administrative functions to new projects (initial screening, due diligence, project formation, post-merger integration, etc.) and reinforcement of earning power / productivity improvement to existing projects.
Between 2007 to 2009, he was seconded to Recruit Co., Ltd., a Japanese listed Media and Human Capital service company, and served as a Director in its Business Development office.
MUSTAFA ERÖĞÜT Board MemberMustafa Eröğüt, who obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Management Concentration and attended post-graduate (MBA) program of Business Management, Management Concentration in Sports in Ithaca College, USA, has been actively working as a senior sports manager and participating in social responsibility projects in sports and youth organizations over the last 8 years. Starting his career as Administrative Coordinator in Youth Development Academy of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), Mr. Eröğüt was the Administrative Director in Professional Football Team of IBB, Assistant Supervisor in BAKER TILLY GÜRELY and Director of Football Development Department and Deputy Director of Football Department in Turkish Football Federation, respectively. Mr. Eröğüt is currently Executive Director of Istanbul Başakşehir Football Club and Deputy General Secretary of Turkish Sports Clubs Union. Moreover, he is a member of UEFA Youth and Amateur Football Committee.

Joint Commission International Quality AccreditationJoint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation is internationally accepted and recognized review model. The commission conducts independent assessments to investigate whether requirements of a series of standards are met or not to improve the quality of care in healthcare organizations. The commission has accredited more than 1000 healthcare facilities in more than 70 countries. JCI standards include international patient safety goals, access to care and continuity of care, patient-centered care, assessment of patients, care of patients, anesthesia and surgical care, medication management and use, under the title of patient-centered standards. Quality improvement and patient safety, prevention and control of infections, governance, leadership and direction, facility management and safety, staff qualifications and education and management of information fall into the scope of health care organization management standards for healthcare facilities.

Reviews of Quality Standards in Health by Ministry of HealthAcıbadem Healthcare Group renders services in accordance with Quality Standards in Health which are set to ensure standardization of service delivery at public, privately owned and university hospitals, lay grounds for sharing experiences between institutions and to establish national quality in health system.
Laboratory Accreditations and CertificationsAcıbadem Labmed Medical Laboratory was accredited by DACH (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle Chemie) in accordance with ISO 15189 standards to be valid as of October 20, 2015 and it has become the first medical laboratory with ISO 15189 accreditation in Turkey. The laboratory was re-accredited by Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) in line with TS EN ISO 15189 standards to be valid as of 19/10/2010 and it has become the first laboratory accredited by TURKAK according to TS EN ISO 15189 standards in Turkey. Acıbadem Labmed Medical Laboratory was re-accredited by TURKAK according to TS EN ISO 15189 standards in 2014 and became the first medical laboratory accredited by TURKAK according to TS EN 15189 standards within the concept of flexible scope to be valid as of 10.01.2017. The laboratory was re-accredited in January 2019 and became the first laboratory maintaining the 4th accreditation cycle in accordance with TS EN ISO 15189 in Turkey.
The accreditation of laboratories has recognized by all member countries of ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation), as TURKAK is a party to the multilateral agreement (MRA-Mutual Recognition Agreements) of ILAC.
Acıbadem Labgen Genetic Diagnosis Center was accredited by TURKAK in accordance with TSEN ISO 15189 standards to be valid as of 10.01.2017.
Acıbadem Labvital Food Control Laboratory was accredited by TURKAK in accordance with TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 standards to be valid as of 11.09.13.
Acıbadem Labmed Ankara Tissue Typing Laboratory was accredited by ASHI (American Society for Histocompability and Immunogenetics) on 09.01.2015 and became the first Turkish tissue typing laboratory with ASHI accreditation.
ISO 9001 Quality Management System CertificationAcıbadem Mobil Sağlık Hizmetleri A.Ş. received ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certificate on March 06, 2018 and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certificate on March 07, 2018.
Aplus Hastane Otelcilik Hizmetleri A.Ş. completed establishment of quality management system to achieve standardization in production and operation processes of catering and textile laundry services, gather and manage the relevant processes under a certain system and it was awarded with ISO 9001 Quality Management System certificate by international accreditation commissions. It was accredited for cleaning services in 2011. Our group has completed the process of adaptation to Version 2015 of the standard on April 21, 2017 and thus, certification could be maintained.

ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System CertificateISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management System has been established and accredited to ensure food safety in food and beverage services as well as in all processes ranging from production to ultimate consumption. In this context, each product is carefully examined by means of critical control points depending on its own product group and risk factor, starting with acceptance of goods.
Qualifications of personnel are improved through continuous trainings and awareness and sustainability are maintained through assessments at different extensity levels on daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System CertificateAcıbadem Technology has ISO 27001 Information Management System Certificate that has been valid since 29.08.2016.
RAL-GZ 992 CertificationThe clothes washed and packed in APlus Laundry Factory are delivered to the relevant location and hospitals from the factory in line with the principle of “zero-touch”. Since the principle of transporting the clean and dirty textile products separately is adopted, each stage of transfer procedure is monitored with vehicle tracking system and reported. The processes are managed through full automation system, which have been standardized by RAL-GZ 992 Professional Fabric Care Quality and Test Specifications. Management systems of APlus are certified by accredited certification organizations and laundry standards are certified by international Frschungsinstitut Hohenstein Institute. RAL - GZ 992 Professional Fabric Care Quality and Test Specifications are adopted. Textile products are washed with bag system, ironed, folded and packed with a fully automated system for the first time in Turkey.
READ ALLVISIT AND COMPANION POLICY
- If your primary physician forbids visitors and/or companions for the sake of your patient’s health, please comply with this rule.
- Children younger than 7 years of age should not be allowed at inpatient clinics, while this age limit is 16 for intensive care units.
- Please remember that maximum two visitors should be allowed in patient’s room at the same time and the visit should be restricted to 10 minutes for our patients’ health.
- For the patients at intensive care unit, please call the patient’s nurse using the phone at the entrance of the unit. You can be allowed to visit your patient if there is no medical contraindication and the patient and intensive care environment are suitable for your visit. Consider the visit rules and relevant details that are instructed when you are allowed to enter the unit.
- People with fever, runny nose, cough, diarrhea, vomiting and infectious dermatitis are not allowed to visit their patients.
- Visiting procedures can be restricted in case of an epidemic.
- Wash your hands or use the hand disinfectant in the area before and after the visit.
- Follow the instructions of our health professionals when visiting the isolated patients.
- Do not contact to other patients and patient care materials.
- Be careful about privacy of patients and family members during your visit.
- Try not to cry, shout or any similar behavior that reflect your emotional status near our patients (as it will be harmful for them).
- Please do not bring or accept foods-drinks to help protection of our patients’ health.
- Planted flowers are not accepted to patient rooms due to risk of infections. Planted flowers sent for the patient will be delivered at the discharge stage.
- Do not use your mobile phone in places where there is medical equipment.
- Do not use water heaters etc. in patient rooms as they can cause technical problems.
- Do not speak loudly.
- Pets are not allowed at our hospitals, please do not bring.
- Smoking is strictly forbidden at our hospitals, excluding designated areas.
- A companion is regarded as a visitor who is in the patient’s room after 22:00. The patients can have only one companion in all rooms.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Adopting the approach of quality service in line with its mission and vision, Acıbadem Healthcare Group is respectful to and sensitive for environment and acts by being aware of its responsibilities.
For this purpose;- Along with observing all local and national laws and regulations related to environment, it meets all environmental requirements within the scope of JCI accreditation.
- It prepares a specific waste management plan for each facility to determine the wastes arising out of activities of all healthcare facilities and to remove these wastes in a way that does not threat health of patients and employees.
- It tries to minimize the waste and separate the recyclable ones within the scope of this plan.
- Non-recyclable materials are delivered to relevant institutions to be destroyed in accordance with laws and regulations.
- It raises awareness and trains the employees for individual responsibilities to adopt the environmental responsibility in the entire group.

The aim of Acıbadem Education and Health Foundation for the near future is to contribute to university education of students and to establish “Acıbadem Health Sciences University” to conduct scientific and technologic investigations. The foundation continues making efforts in this end.
Education GrantsAcıbadem Education and Health Foundation offers grants to a certain number of successful students every year to support material and non-material needs of successful students who study health sciences.
There are three requirements to receive a grant:- The need for the grant should be proven,
- Candidates should be studying health sciences in a higher education institution,
- Grades should be good and better.

HEALTH RESPONSIBILITY PROJECTS
Supporting discovery of new knowledge and practices by facilitating academic studies and scientific researches in Health Sciences in all areas of health, Acıbadem Education and Health Foundation was founded to make contributions to national education of our country and well-being of our people in order to improve solidarity feelings of the public.

Clown therapyVoluntary doctor and nurse clowns of Acıbadem take a role in the medical animation service that aims to minimize stress and anxiety at hospital settings for children and adults.
Clean Hands CampaignThis campaign is held to increase awareness of hand-washing and make it a public habit through the motto “Clean Hands Save Life”. In the hand-washing campaign, certain activities are organized, such as improvement of hand-washing habit, awareness educations and outdoor advertisements.
Cancer Support GroupsCancer patients are about to face many physical and psychological problems. “Cancer Support Groups” are established to support patients with documented cancer who are maintained on treatment or in the follow-up. The groups are established to provide cancer patients with professional support and psychologists participate in meetings that are held at regular intervals.
Terry Fox RunTerry Fox Run is an activity that is organized every year to provide cancer studies with financial fund. This Run has been organized since the death of Terry Fox who was diagnosed with bone cancer and ran “Marathon of Hope”, after his leg was amputated when he was only 18. Acıbadem supports this project.
Scientific MeetingsEducation and training meetings are regularly held for physicians and nurses; lecturers and participants from our organization and other public and private institutes and agencies participate in these meetings held to support discovery of new knowledge and develop novel practices in all topics about health by enabling academic studies and scientific investigations in the area of Health Sciences. Public Health Education and Training: Acıbadem organizes various training programs and courses at Acıbadem hospitals to ensure health of citizens, grow healthy generations and make them live healthy lives, increase public awareness and help and guide relevant problems. Examples include Low Back School, First Aid Course, Birth Preparation Course, Diabetes Training and Smoke-free Life Program.
Health ConversationsAcıbadem organizes health conversations for the public about health topics at Acıbadem Hospitals in order to ensure health of citizens, increase public awareness and help and guide problems.
Patient Education CenterA Patient Education Center was established at Acıbadem Kozyatağı Hospital in 2005 to educate patients and family members. Any and all up-to-date information, periodical and visual material (CD/DVD, video etc.) is free-of-charge available in the center.
Diabetes SchoolAcıbadem organizes various training programs and courses at Acıbadem hospitals to ensure health of citizens, grow healthy generations and make them live healthy lives, increase public awareness and help and guide relevant problems. Diabetes School is one of these educations. Diabetes Centers allow multidisciplinary treatment for diabetic patients. Participants are certified, if they attend all “Diabetes School” education meetings held by Acıbadem Diabetes Centers for five weeks pursuant to patient education program.

Acıbadem HayatAcıbadem Hayat Magazine is created by modifying design and content of Güncel Sağlık (Up-to-date Health) magazine, which has been published by Acıbadem Healthcare Group since 1995, in 2010. Acıbadem Hayat is a popular health magazine published at quarter intervals. It addresses many issues, ranging from all topics that should be known in health to novel diagnosis and treatment modalities, as plain and simple as possible in a colorful format along with interviews with physicians of Acıbadem. The magazine is printed in 55 thousand copies and available free-of-charge for all patients in all Acıbadem hospitals.
Badem Children’s Books“Badem Child” is a hero specially designed by Acıbadem for children at 4 to 7 years of age to help children overcome fear of visiting a doctor and hospital along with “Badem Child” tale. These books are a special series that contain basic health information and help children cope with fear
Failure to access to correct health information is a major problem about children and health for children in our county. Parents usually provoke the fear of visiting a doctor by punishing their children with ‘a visit to a doctor’. However, a good communication should be ensured between children and healthcare facilities continuously in their growth age until they become a healthy adult, rather than when they get sick. Badem Child tale series do not only tell health information, but it also offers a model for parents regarding their communication with children.
Briefly, Badem Child tale series is a tool that also guides and educates parents. Another aim of this project is to create simple health guidelines for families. These tales are authored under supervision of specialized physicians.
